[Korea Events/Festival] Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)

Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is one of the largest film festivals in Korea. Beginning in 1996 as the first international film festival in Korea, now is a major global event and is Asia’s largest film festival.

The festival has special events and as a Hallyu/KPOP enthusiast, aside from watching the films, the one I’m looking forward to are the opening ceremony and/or Red Carpet which is star-packed with Korean and foreign celebrities as well as the more relaxed Blue Carpet the next day where the stars can interact with fans.

Another event I’m looking forward too is the audience Meet-and-Greet in an outdoor stage where directors, actors and actresses can exchange and share ideas with the audience.

It is held in Haeundae and Nampo-dong, Busan, the festival presents over 300 films from 70 countries. The main program themes include: Gala Presentation, A Window on Asian Cinema, New Currents, Flash Forward, World Cinema, Korean Cinema Today, Korean Cinema Retrospective, Wide Angle, Open Cinema, Special Programs in Focus, and Midnight Passion.
