As a WOW Korea Supporter appointed by the Korea Tourism Organization Manila Office, I was able to attend as they reserved slots for us at the opening ceremony of the first Korea Study Abroad Expo 2014 last August 27, 2014 at the UPAA Ang Bahay Ng Alumni, UP Diliman, Quezon City with the event hosted by Ms. Kring Elenzano.
The two-day event was organized by The Republic of Korea Ministry of Education, National Institute for International Education, and Korea Tourism Organization Manila Office in cooperation with the University of the Philippines.
South Korean Ambassador H.E. Hyuk Lee led the ribbon-cutting for the first Korea Study Abroad Expo 2014 together with Korean officials, corporate and education heads.
In one of the speeches: “There is no better way of learning Korea than being in Korea.”
Welcoming globalization, Korean universities are actively inviting foreign students to expand their international cooperation and exchange, and improve their international competitiveness. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education formed the Study Korea 2020 Project under which it set the target of attracting 200,000 foreign students by 2020. In order to realize this objective, the ministry is promoting projects for expanding government scholarships, improving studying and living conditions for foreign students, and so on.
